From Writers At The Watermill 2017

' Wonderful weekend - enriching, safe, gorgoeus location.... Fantastic experience, great to get off grid and have complete immersion away from distractions.  I'll take away great memories ... also renewed motivation... Great to meet other writers and just hang out and talk writing all weekend.'   Jacinta Noonan, The Hague

'Felt I grew.  Thoroughly enjoyable.' Sheila S.

'The course and venue have generosity and creativity at their heart.... I'd like to take the whole valley home with me.' Susanne H-S

'Very professionally put together with a good balance of writing and play.... the programme content was varied and interesting... the accommodation charming and generously supplied... The moon shone on my pillow.' C.P.

'The cottages are ideal for a retreat.  I doubt any other venue can match up.  I'm an experienced writer but I learned something from Anne and was inspired by Christine.'  Jo Parfitt

'I had a great weekend.  Everything we needed was provided.  Catering and provisions, wonderful.  Lots of cake and homegrown produce.' Liz S.

'You ... have created such a beautiful, peaceful, creative ambience there.  I feel ... as if I've slipped into another century.  So restful for the head, and heart!'  Belinda Seaward, author of Hotel Juliet and The Beautiful Truth.

A Writers' Circle Week 2015

“Christine fizzes with enthusiasm as she shares the magical place she calls home with writers, who cannot fail but to leave inspired, soothed, educated and just a little in love with the Gara Valley.

She and John are excellent hosts, laid-back and welcoming and ready to let all those who have the good fortune to enter their world have a slice of their idyll beside the stream.  In 2015 I introduced a bunch of writers from my Writers’ Circle to the Watermill and we spent a fabulous few days enjoying the well-appointed cottages.  We all left motivated and refreshed.”

From Slow Nature Wild Words A Residential Writing Weekend in partnership with Left Bank Writers at Watermill Cottages, November 2013

‘’Finding Christine's wonderful farm in a hamlet deep down in a Devon valley was the first adventure - then it opened out to reveal beautiful cottages and a very warm welcome.

We loved our cottage and the wonderful main house which was used as the base for convening the workshops, taking refreshments and amazing meals cooked by Jade.

Christine was warm, welcoming and highly professional in facilitating the workshops and group activities - we did some interesting and stimulating writing, enhanced by walks within the grounds of Watermill Cottages and the convivial company of the rest of the group.

The bonfire in the evening and guitar playing by John whilst imbibing homemade cider under a full moon made for a magical experience.

This was a very special writing course, much enjoyed and treasured.’’
